Urijah Faber is willing to dive right back into the deep end for a major boxing match with a UFC legend, who’s beaten him in the past.
‘The California Kid’ is keen to roll the dice one last time in pursuit of claiming the biggest scalp of his career.
Urijah Faber calls for a boxing match with Jose Aldo
On April 24, 2010, MMA icons, Jose Aldo and Urijah Faber traded brutal blows during an incredible WEC featherweight title fight.
Showcasing his fearsome power, the Brazilian landed his terrifying leg kick at will, causing enormous damage to his opponent’s thigh.
In a testament to his formidable fighting heart, the American made it to the final bell, but it was ultimately Aldo who retained his 145-pound strap.
In the years since, Faber has dreamt of an opportunity to get his revenge. However, despite his desire to go head-to-head with the Rio native once more, he actually turned down the offer of a boxing match. But, if the right deal came along, he’d take it in a heartbeat.

He told MMA Fighting: “Chad Mendes and I both fought Jose Aldo, and he was our toughest fight. So, I’d prefer not to get beat up by Aldo at this point in my life. But, I would do a boxing match against him. I think they offered me something not too long ago before he resigned with the UFC. But it was not the kind of offer that was super intriguing.”
Ultimately, while Faber’s fire to fight Aldo still burns bright, he remembers those leg kicks like it was yesterday.
He chuckled: “I’ve talked to Aldo before about bare-knuckle. He has no desire to do bare-knuckle. I would do a boxing match with Jose Aldo. I love pure boxing, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and I love blending them together. I would not want to do a kickboxing match with Jose Aldo; that’s for da*n sure.
“Google Urijah Faber’s leg, and if you don’t know what we’re talking about, you’ll know.”
Chad Mendes suffered horrific side effects after fighting Jose Aldo
As Faber alluded to, Mendes had a truly torrid experience going head-to-head with the longest-reigning featherweight champion in UFC history.
After losing in their first encounter via a devastating knee, ‘Money’ did everything in his power to earn another shot, beating five top contenders.
When he eventually got his chance at revenge, he put it all on the line, showcasing enormous heart en route to a decision loss.
While Mendes didn’t win the belt, he emerged with a lot of respect. But while his admirable showing earned the admiration of the crowd, it resulted in awful physical side effects.
