Report: Devin Haney’s attorney calls for Ryan Garcia disqualification in NYSAC letter, Garcia responds

Devin Haney’s team is reportedly looking for his April 20 loss to Ryan Garcia to be overturned into a disqualification win.

According to a report from Boxing Scene, Haney’s attorney Patrick English sent an eight-page letter to high-level members of the New York State Athletic Commission calling for Garcia to be disqualified following Garcia’s failed drug tests for banned substances that were revealed following Garcia’s decision win over Haney in Brooklyn.

Per the report, English states that the alleged performance-enhancing drug use, along with other factors, placed Haney “in an unsafe fight under NYSAC jurisdiction.”

“The bout was made a mockery and in addition to the PED use and prohibited use of IVs, after the bout, Mr. Garcia admitted that missing weight was a tactic to give him an unfair advantage,” English wrote.

“As there was no second-day weigh in required by the commission, thus it is impossible to know what he weighed on fight night. This is why, after setting forth the facts below we request that Mr. Garcia be disqualified, which is more fitting than a no-contest in this situation.”

Garcia was made aware of the situation, and, as expected, had a lot to say on Twitter about it.

I need my money back if they overrule my victory

I paid him money and that was to accept the weight

So give me my fucking money back

Garcia even provided a screen grab about NYSAC rules involving drug testing, and says that “everyone is getting sued.”

Garcia tested positive for the banned substance ostarine in two drug tests with the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) ahead of his bout with Haney. He also “screened positive” for 19-Norandrosterone metabolite, which derives from the banned substance nandrolone, but was ultimately cleared of that infraction.

“King Ryan” has requested to have his B-sample tested, and results are expected to come back May 22.
