Terence Crawford is considered the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world. However, after becoming the undisputed welterweight champion in 2023, “Bud” hasn’t entered the ring since. He returns to action attempting to win gold in another division when he faces WBA super welterweight champion Israil Madrimov on August 3.
In connection with Saudi Arabia and Riyadh Season, the fight and event in Los Angeles will air on DAZN worldwide and ESPN+. The interim WBO super welterweight title is also on the line.
A Golden Gloves silver medalist, Crawford made his pro debut in 2008. Crawford became light welterweight champion in 2014 and he beat Jeff Horn in 2018 for the WBO welterweight title.
Leaving Top Rank following multiple title defenses, Crawford became his own promoter. It resulted in an anticipated undisputed title fight in July 2023 against Errol Spence Jr. Crawford decimated Spence for about nine rounds, knocking him down multiple times to win the IBF, WBA, WBC, and Ring belts. Now, he looks for a new division to conquer.

“I’m proud to partner with Riyadh Season and HE Turki Alalshikh on their first boxing event in the United States. I cannot wait to get back in the ring in my fourth weight class and remind the world why I’m the best pound for pound fighter in the world,” said Crawford. “Israil Madrimov is a tremendous and entertaining fighter, but on August 3, he will be my next victim. This is the Terence Crawford era.”
A two-time gold medalist at the amateur level, Madrimov turned pro in 2018. The man from Uzbekistan beat Magomed Kurbanov in March via TKO to win the vacant WBA super welterweight title. It was his seventh win via the power punch.
“Terence Crawford is one of my favorite boxers and one of the best boxers in the world,” said Madrimov. “I am very excited to get this opportunity to make a statement, and I will Inshallah.”
The entire card is stacked, featuring the likes of David Morrell, Andy Ruiz Jr., Andy Cruz, and more.
